Well well well, again it could have been better, but at least some winners came about from that last post, and to top it all off, there was an 11/2 winner to boot! So let’s have a quick recap…
Basing all this on an even stake of £1 per selection, the first post produced 3 losers, so the end result would have been -£3. The second post had 3 winners, a void bet (as Petrova retired and match wasn’t completed), and two losers. Making the result for that day +£9.02, and an overall profit of £6.02 from 9 selections. Not bad going really!
So, with this in mind I move on to today, where I have three more galloping stars, and three other tips from Tennis (because they are proving to be good ) and that game with balls and sticks and green cloth that only the British seem to play, snooker is it?
1:50 Salibury (there’s some form of hill there isn’t there?)
It’s hard to look past Botanica winning this afternoons opening race, especially after a decent performance last time out when finishing 2nd in a 17 runner, class 2 affair at Goodwood. A drop back down to class 5 means that the opposition are likely to be weaker than that day, and the 7f trip looks to be her ideal distance to land her first win, and she should be more than capable of winning with Richard Hughes on board this afternoon.
Botanica @ 2/1
4:10 Beverley (could be a hill here too)
One of our old managers, Johnny King, came out with a belter when I was a wee baba, and it’s pretty apt for this blog, “I can’t promise anyone success, but I can promise them a trip to the moon”, this said, Moon Trip looks the best bet to win a contest that’s more depleted than it was in the first place.
Originally 4 runners we are now down to just three, Moon Trip had the better Mojolika over the same course and distance last month, clearing his rival by over 5 lengths, and despite this being an easier race than Mojolika has competed in during recent times, it’s hard to make claims for him to win. Moon Trip’s jockey, Silvestre De Sousa is the most successful at Beverley over the past 5 seasons, and he should be able to fend off the biggest threat to improving than in Yours Ever. He looked strong when running over a slightly shorter distance at Ayr in July, but could find it difficult to keep up with Moon Trip, who finished second last time out but some distance clear of the rest of the field, that was in Class 3 company and the drop down to Class 4 could be the difference maker here in a race he really should win
Moon Trip @ 11/10
5:20 Chepstow
I had a DreamCast in my younger days, and enjoyed the likes of Sonic Adventure, Jet Set Radio & Crazy Taxi. There’s no games in this 5f maiden though, and with that in mind its going to take a lot to beat Dream Cast (a problem I had as a kid). The field has been reduced to just 5 runners, but it could well be a competitive affair, however, a decent 2nd when last time out at Ffos Las, which included finishing ahead of Vencentti by 5 lengths. The drop back from 6f could be the right move considering he has looked weak over the last furlong the last couple of times out, not much else jumps out at me here and as a result I’m going to make this my NAP for the day
Dream Cast @ 10/11 (NAP)
Ding Junhui v Shaun Murphy
I know I said that only the British play snooker, but I guess the word has got out to other countries too!
Premier League Snooker returns tonight in a return to the normal best of 6 frame match after last season’s pretty unsuccessful changes have been scrapped. Ding Junhui will be hoping he can build on his runners-up placing last year by getting off to a winnih start against Shaun Murphy, whom he beat in this competition in their only meeting last season. Murphy also holds a victory in this competition against this evenings counterpart, when winning 5-1 back in the 2010 season, but Ding came good last year and should be able to prove his mettle once again this season. There’s always the risk of the draw in these matches, but the odds on offer stand for pretty decent value if the Chinese man is on his game
Ding to beat Murphy @ 13/8
Judd Trump v Stephen Lee
If ever there was a tournament for Judd Trump, this would be it, the youngster can make the most of his first appearance in the Premier League by beating a usually quite erratic Stephen Lee.
Judd Trump to win @ 8/11
Samantha Stosur v Ekaterina Makarova
She’s back again ain’t she? I should have learnt the first time around that
Ekaterina Makarova
is a tough nut to crack but still, Samantha Stosur is even more formidable on her day, and there’s no reason why the Australian, World Number 6, cannot breeze through to the fourth round at a decent enough price. The third seed should prove to be a bar too high and should follow up her three set victory yesterday with another victory today
Samantha Stosur to win @ 3/4
Ultimately, you can see my other ‘tips’ on the old OLBG site,
